[Written for the Sentinel]
Awakening
Awake,
mankind! the time is past for dreaming;
Wake, for the day dawns; open wide thine eyes.
See how the Father-Mother God is leaning
Over thy cradle, urging thee to rise.
The light breaks! Thou'rt no longer storm-tossed, riven;
The night-dream vanishes before day's smile;
Stretch out thy weary arms to life, God-given,
And know that Love is with thee all the while!
Awake! Awake!
