Among the Churches

Current Notes

Harrogate, England (First Church).—The lease of the Christian Science church building in Albert Street expires next year; and in view of the increasing size of the congregations, the members of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Harrogate, have decided upon the erection of a permanent edifice. They have acquired a very central and pleasantly situated piece of land at the junction of Victoria Avenue and East Park Road. The site contains 1434 square yards, of which about one half will be occupied by the actual buildings. The builder's contract provides for a meeting room to hold about one hundred and fifty (which will ultimately become the Sunday school assembly room), with classrooms above, a spacious Reading Room, library, foyer, and cloak rooms. The church edifice itself, which is designed to accommodate about three hundred and fifty persons, will be the subject of a second contract. The building is designed in the Renaissance style, and will be faced with stone.
