About nine years ago I began the study of Christian Science, not for the healing alone, but to satisfy a longing for something real and true,—a longing for a religion which I could make practical; and by the daily study of the Bible together with "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I not only received the spiritual uplift, but learned to rely entirely upon this truth in time of need.

We have had many beautiful healings in our home, but one stands out clearer to me than all others. At the time of the influenza epidemic, three years ago, my sister and my niece, who were in my home, but who were not Scientists, were very ill and under the care of physicians. I awoke one morning with a high fever and my body racked with pain, to mortal sense with every symptom of influenza. Thinking I could do my own mental work without the help of a Christian Science practitioner, I tried to read the Lesson-Sermon but found I could not, and began to lapse into spells of unconsciousness. In the afternoon I managed, by holding to the furniture, to get to the telephone and call a practitioner, and by ten o'clock in the evening all sense of pain and fever was gone. Within two or three days I was entirely well, able to attend to my usual duties with no thought of the weakness and other after effects which followed the influenza in cases where patients were attended by medical doctors.

I am indeed grateful for the loving help of the Christian Science practitioners, and for this saving truth, given to the world by our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
