It is with sincere gratitude that I write of the healing...

It is with sincere gratitude that I write of the healing power of Christian Science. About a year ago, when I was coming down from the veranda of my summer cottage, I stepped on uneven ground in such a way as to sprain my ankle. The pain was intense. I stood still, declaring the allness of God and knowing that nothing but good could come to God's child. In a few minutes the pain subsided, and I was able to take a short walk. This was about four o'clock Thursday afternoon. About two hours later the pain returned and the ankle began swelling. I could not bear any weight on my foot. The pain was severe and it extended above the knee. I immediately called a Christian Science practitioner for absent treatment. It seemed necessary for me to move about a little; but at that time I could not do so without support. The pain continued through the evening, but the next morning I was very much better; and by Saturday morning I was perfectly healed. I performed my usual duties about the house without suffering any inconvenience whatever.

For the understanding that God is a very present help in trouble, and that "accidents are unknown to God," as Mrs. Eddy tells us in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 424), I am indeed very grateful. I am also grateful to God, to Mrs. Eddy, and to the loving and faithful work of the practitioners who have been so patient in helping me to understand Christian Science.
