I have great cause at this time to rejoice at having a little understanding of Christian Science, which lifts us out of the sea of materiality, and teaches us how to know God and to trust Him at all times and under all circumstances. From a child I was looked upon as being very delicate; and I have heard my mother say several times that she thought I could not be with them long, being subject to all the so-called children's diseases. However, I reached the age of twenty-one, and then left my home in England and went to Winnipeg, Canada. Later, I came to the United States; and during my first seven years away from home I was in five hospitals.

In the year 1916 I had neuritis and fallen arches of the feet. I was in intense pain for four months. At the end of that time my physician gave up the case, saying he could not help me. That day my wife met a gentleman who was interested in Christian Science, and he inquired for me. On being told of my condition, he kindly offered to lend me "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. My wife brought it along; and I was very pleased, having read a little out of it some three years before. I opened the book eagerly, and read for about twenty minutes, when I got out of bed, partly dressed myself, and went downstairs, walking,—something I had not done in a long while. I remained up until after supper; and was entirely healed in three days. By continuing to read Science and Health, since that time I have not taken any medicine of any kind; and I am now physically strong, and growing stronger, spiritually, every day through this beautiful study. I am grateful to God and to Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer of this most wonderful truth, which does heal and save. Again, I am grateful to the practitioner who so lovingly and patiently helped me and mine through many problems of sickness and discord. It is, therefore, my daily desire, prayer, for more growth in grace and understanding; that I may also be able to impart the truth to the wanderers by the wayside, and help them even as I have been helped.
