There came a time in my life when a complete nervous collapse, or prostration, occurred. Only those who have gone through the same experience can realize the suffering and terror of one in this mental state. The loss of control, the helplessness, the fear of losing one's reason, the despair and darkness, sum up but slightly the conditions. Like a helpless person floundering in the waves, I caught at whatever promised relief; but without avail, until Christian Science came as an angel of light. It seemed as if an unseen hand were at work to show me that one thing and one thing only could save. The ordinary systems of medicine—allopathy, homeopathy—failed; electric treatment was useless; the so-called mental treatments termed mental science and New Thought were without avail; but when Christian Science came it held and sustained. I knew I had found my deliverer. In the little book, "Unity of Good" by Mary Baker Eddy, which was placed in my hand by the loving one to whom I was led, and which was my first glimpse of Christian Science, I found both meat and drink. This and the treatment soon broke the cloud. The so-called material senses, in which I had been selfishly engulfed, had broken under me in the time of stress. Medicine and hygiene were useless, because they did not touch the cause. I was healed, however, when the power of Truth and Love, as revealed in Christian Science, began to bind the false mentality, which was the producer of the discord.

This healing was many years ago; but in the intervening time I have always found Christian Science an available and sure help in time of need. And why not? since it always goes to the very root of the trouble, uncovering the hidden mental errors constituting the mortal or carnal mind, and showing how to destroy these errors through the Mind of Christ, the physical healing always following as a consequence. The inevitable spiritual healing and purification which take place as the divine Mind, in Science, overcomes the human, becomes to many the greatest joy of all.

For the physical and mental healing, and some degree of spiritual enlightenment, which Christian Science, through the consecrated labor of our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, has brought to me, I am profoundly and deeply grateful.
