Hope, courage, assurance, joy, is the message of Christian Science to every weary, sick, suffering, and discouraged individual. This I know to be true, because such was my condition when the healing consciousness of the Christ, Truth, came into my life through the teachings of Christian Science. Like the sunlight entering a darkened chamber, so came the healing Christ into my darkened thought, bringing its message of light, hope, and trust in God, in ever present Love and good, to heal and to save.

Stomach trouble, constant headaches, extreme car sickness, and other complications held me in bondage for years; and while I had had the attention of kindly, conscientious physicians for several years, and had taken different trips in the search for health, neither the physicians nor the changes of atmosphere and environment brought any permanent relief. After having gone through an especially severe siege of suffering, and having become very weary of it all, I permitted a friend to send for a Christian Science practitioner, although without faith that Christian Science could heal me. The loving practitioner who came told me of God's love and care for me, His child; but I doubted much that she said, mainly because it seemed too good to be true. However, within a short time after she had gone I found that a new sense of hope had come to me; and that same evening I went to the dinner table for the first time in weeks; and thereafter continued to improve until I finally was healed. My healing covered a long period of time; for which I have since been very grateful, because, in having to seek God daily and hourly for courage and strength to go forward, I learned to know and love God, good, so that by the time my healing was complete I had but one purpose and prayer, namely, to bring this healing truth to others.

For twenty years Christian Science has been my only source of help, and it has never failed me. Through its teachings I have seen God's presence, power, and goodness proved in every hour of need; and I have found that priceless beyond measure is the knowledge and understanding of the ever-presence and power of God's love to heal and to save. Great as have been all the blessings which have come to me, by far the greatest is the consciousness of the eternal spiritual fact that these blessings are God's free gift to every one of His children. Only a life of joyous service can prove my heart's gratitude to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for giving to the world the message of Christian Science.
