Words fail to express my gratitude for the many blessings...
Words fail to express my gratitude for the many blessings I have received through Christian Science, and I am glad to add my testimony to the many that have already been given. A few months ago, in reaching for a bottle of nitric acid with which to test some gold, I spilled the contents of the bottle over my face and neck. The acid was so strong that it cut a string of beads which I had around my neck, as if it had been done with a knife. I had some times wondered what I would do in an emergency, but I did not question when the test came. From the first I seemed to see the words "Christian Science," and I never for a moment wanted anything else, and declared the truth at once. I left the department and went upstairs, the customers not knowing anything had happened. My associates, not knowing I was interested in Christian Science, got in touch with a doctor, who, being unable to leave during office hours, said that if I would come to him he would attend to me.
As soon as I found they intended to have a doctor, I stepped into an inner office and got in touch with a practioner. In a very few minutes I was in this practitioner's home, and in about two hours after the occurrence all suffering had been overcome. Later in the afternoon one of my friends called over the telephone to ask how I was, and was told I was perfectly comfortable and would be at business on Monday, less than two days later. I was at business on Monday, although as my friends afterwards told me, they did not think I would be able to see any one for at least a week. Several who witnessed the accident have since looked into Christian Science. It is such a comfort to know that in an hour of great need we can always turn to God for help. I am indeed thankful to God and grateful to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, also to the practitioner, who is ever ready to help.
