Some time ago our little girl developed quite a severe sore throat, and a day or so later our little boy came down with the same trouble. We telephoned a practitioner and both children were healed within a very short time. The children had not any more than recovered than my wife became very seriously ill with the same trouble. The healing seemed to take longer in this case, but it was accomplished. My wife had not any more than recovered when I began to manifest the same trouble. This started on a Tuesday. It became so aggravated that by Friday I had to leave my work and go home to bed. The practitioner who had helped the children and my wife had left his home the previous Sunday, and I had been trying to do my own work. By Monday, however, the condition had become so severe that I realized that help must be obtained, so I asked my wife to try and get the practitioner's home, which was sixty miles away, on the telephone. She succeeded in doing so and in less than thirty minutes from the time the practitioner started to work every vestige of physical evidence that I ever had a sore throat had disappeared, and I was restored to a normal condition and was back at my work on time Tuesday morning. I had known that I was going to receive help, but I had not expected it instantaneously, and I am very grateful for having had this particular experience.
Christian Science has met our every need and has been our sole reliance in every condition that needed correcting in our home. It would be impossible to convey to an outsider the very marked change that has taken place in my inner life in the past four years. I did not turn to Christian Science in the beginning for physical help, but for relief from the drink habit, of which I was completely healed. I have always received physical help very readily, but apparently the moral healings that I have needed have seemed to be slow; however, one after another they are being accomplished, and I am grateful to say that I am an entirely different man from what I was when first turning to Christian Science.
I wish to express my gratitude for the loving, patient help which I have received at different times through a number of practitioners. I wish to express my gratitude for the Christian Science reading rooms. I have never entered one even for the purchase of some of the literature but that I have been blessed. They have been a constant source of refuge for me. I do not believe that any one, except a person who has studied Christian Science, can appreciate the wonderful help that the Journal, the Sentinel, and the Monitor have been to me, in awakening me to a true sense of what life really is. I have been particularly impressed and helped by the articles which I have been reading in the last three or four months. It seems to me that they have never been finer or more helpful. I am particularly grateful for the Sunday schools. It seems to me perfectly wonderful that the children have the opportunity of learning the truth be before growing up in the old thought or belief of life and substance in matter. There are a number of problems which remain unsolved apparently in my individual case, but so much has been accomplished in freeing me from a supposed dominion of the physical senses, and I have learned sufficient of the fundamentals of Christian Science to know that my healings will continue until every rightful change is made in my thought.
