When I became interested in Christian Science I was suffering...

When I became interested in Christian Science I was suffering from a nervous breakdown and was very miserable and unhappy. I had tried many remedies and was hopeless and discouraged, finding no permanent relief in any of them. Then I turned to Christian Science, and with the help of a friend for a short time was slowly but surely healed. Since then many other ills of the flesh have been overcome, including stomach trouble, headache, toothache, deafness in one ear, and a so-called contagious skin disease. Sometimes the healing seemed very slow in coming, but when it was manifested I found I had made a step upward in the understanding of Christian Science.

Better than the healing of physical ills is the way I am being transformed in thought. Selfishness, hatred, criticism, fear, and sorrow are gradually giving way to unselfishness, more love, a joyous confidence in good, a priceless sense of happiness which has come through helping others and expressing more love and thoughtfulness to those around. I thank God for revealing the truth to us through our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and am most grateful to all those who have helped me so patiently and lovingly; also for the great privilege of membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, and for class instruction, the periodicals, and the Quarterly. This testimony is just a slight expression of gratitude for the good which has come to one through the study of Christian Science. I try to express my appreciation in daily life by reflecting Life, Truth, and Love so as to help others as I have been helped.
