The Lectures
Peoria, Ill. (First Church).—Paul Stark Seeley, lecturer; introduced by G. W. Strich, who said in part:—
About fifty years ago through the study of the Scriptures Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, was raised from what the doctors had pronounced her last illness, and was restored to a life of usefulness. For several years subsequent to this experience she did little else but search the Scriptures for the rule whereby this healing was effected. After discovering it and subjecting it to the broadest tests, demonstrating the truth thereof, she eventually gave it to the world through what is known as the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Thus primitive Christianity was reestablished and with it the lost element of spiritual healing.
So wisely was this work founded and so well was the seed sown that in the short period of fifty years it has encircled the globe. It is now being taught and demonstrated in the remotest sections of the earth, thereby fast bringing to light the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man, even to the degree that we can discern a covenant taking form under which all mankind can dwell together in brotherly unity.
