For six years I was an invalid

For six years I was an invalid. My husband, a practicing physician for many years, handled my case until he became disheartened, when he called other members of his profession to diagnose the case and prescribe for me. At times I seemed to improve, but no permanent help was received. We then began the experience of thousands, going away from home in search of health, to physicians, to hot springs, turning to baths, diet, exercise, and so on. Finally I prayed to God that if I could only reach home, I would be willing to die; for with all the rest I was homesick. I was taken home, and three or four physicians were called. One came from a distance, and he was the only one who gave any hope. I was placed under his treatment about April 28, 1891, but my condition did not improve; indeed, it gradually became worse, until I seemed only a skeleton. The trouble was pronounced a malignant growth of the stomach, and the verdict passed in August that there was no hope; it was only a question of a few days or hours.

At this point Christian Science treatment was requested by letter, and absent work commenced. In a short time I experienced a mental change, and soon afterward the physical improvement was manifested. I was better, and I knew it. A few days later I was taken to the train, placed upon a bed in a Pullman car, and traveled five hundred miles in order to receive present treatment. The day I received it, I walked seven blocks, and I have continued to walk every day since, now over a quarter of a century. I returned to my home in fifteen days, a well woman. Truly it was a different home-coming. On other occasions when I had been away, I had read the Bible and prayed fervently, but returned no better. This time I studied the Bible with out textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, prayed as taught in Christian Science, and returned well.

I have relied upon this healing truth to solve my life problems ever since, and it has not been found wanting in any particular. There has been only one day in over twenty-six years that I have not been on my feet and at work. With gratitude I acknowledge Christ my Savior through the teaching of this demonstrable religion.
