I have so often received help and encouragement from the testimonies in our periodicals that I am sending my own to tell just a little of the blessing that the true understanding of God, as learned in Christian Science, has brought into my life. Up to the age of twenty I believed implicitly in the teaching of the church in which I was brought up and in its interpretation of the Bible; but in later years when I looked for the proof of the teaching, it was lacking, and knowing no better I resolved to have nothing further to do with either God or church, until I could find that which would prove the Bible promises true.

I remained in this mental attitude for a few years, and then met with a bad accident. My case was diagnosed as injury to the spine and the worst form of shock to the nervous system. The greatest kindness, care, and attention was received from doctors and surgeons for nearly two years, but at the end of that time I was no better and had become so despondent that I had lost the wish to live. At this point I heard two people discussing some one who, they said, believed in Christian Science. I had never heard of this religion before and did not know that the study of it would bring healing; but I went with a friend to a testimony meeting in Dublin, and borrowed from the reading rooms a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Through the reading of this book and the loving help of a practitioner, I was healed of the effects of the accident in a few weeks, and at once left off the steel jacket I was wearing. This healing took place nearly nine years ago and there has been no return of the discordant condition since that time.

Although the healing of our ills seems like the greatest blessing that could come to us when we are suffering, it is nothing compared to the never ending interest and joy which the study of Christian Science brings. Science and Health not only proved irrefutably to me that the promises in the Bible are true, but it is making true to me the words in I Corinthians, "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."
