About two years ago our son, eleven years of age, was taken with what the doctors said was uraemic poisoning, or a form of acute Bright's disease. For thirty hours he had violent spasms, although our family physician, together with the consulting physician, did all that was possible for conscientious human endeavor to do with material remedies. At the end of that time we were informed, in answer to our anxious questions as to the probable outcome, that while there is life there is hope. Several times near the last we thought him dying. The doctor was informed that if he could offer no hope we would try Christian Science, and a practitioner was called. The packs were removed and all material remedies were laid aside.
After the first treatment in Christian Science a change was immediately noticeable, and the spasms gradually gave way to peaceful rest. The next day our family doctor, who was also a personal friend, called. He seemed surprised to see our boy conscious, and volunteered the advice that if we would be very careful with his diet he probably would be out in a few weeks. While we were grateful for the friendly spirit in which the advice was given, it was disregarded, as the practitioner informed us that nothing the boy could eat would harm him. In a few hours he was eating anything his fancy dictated. The congested organs became normal, he was up and around, and on the third day mowed the lawn. In less than a week he went on a three-hundred-mile camping trip. For two years he has been active and strong, notwithstanding the prediction that diseases of this nature recur. He is indeed a splendid specimen of rugged youth.
Since this healing, all material remedies have been discarded in our home. The study of the Bible with Science and Health has changed our views. It teaches us the difference between that which seems to be and that which really is. This knowledge is the remedy that has overcome and is overcoming all our difficulties, and is an ever present help in trouble. We are grateful for this healing truth which has come into our lives.
