[Written for the Sentinel]

Reflections

So still and cool, a little pool,
With can-tails fringed and grasses,
Reflects their sheen of brown and green,
Stirred by each breeze that passes.

The drifting white of clouds, the flight
Of birds all nestward winging,
Are mirrored true 'gainst mirrored blue
Of sky, and tree tops swinging.

Love makes the heart a place apart
From fear, from lonely longing!
Truth's Peace, be still, can melt self-will,
Destroy wrong passions thronging,

Leaving thought clear as lucent sphere
Of dewdrop, filled with sunshine.
So, Truth in me reflected be,
Love's changeless light divine!
