Like many other people I was literally forced into Christian Science...

Like many other people I was literally forced into Christian Science by ill health. Stomach trouble of seven years' standing refused to yield to medical treatment, and I was sentenced to a life of diet and distress, when Christian Science freed me. Naturally I wanted to learn more about that power which had accomplished in a short time what medicine had failed to do in years, and so I became a student of Mrs. Eddy's teachings.

Two years ago, and not long after my healing, I became interested in the advertising business. The firm which I serve decided to create a local advertising department to help its sales in New England, and although I had had no previous experience except that of a saleman, I was asked to take charge of this department and develop it. My first impulse was to purchase and read all the books on advertising which I could find, and thus acquaint myself with this new work, but so many of these contained conflicting statements that the effect was confusing. As I reflected upon this sense of confusion the thought came to me that here was a wonderful opportunity to put into practice the teachings of Christian Science as found in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy.

Since I had had no previous experience and there was nothing to unlearn, the work was fairly easy. Each activity of my work was preceded by a prayer for light, for a consciousness of the truth, for a clear reflection of the one Mind. At times mortal mind would come with its offers of deceit and hypnotism and would point out how these things could greatly advance my work, but these arguments crumbled into nothingness when tested with the acid of Truth.
