I wish to express deep gratitude for what Christian Science...
I wish to express deep gratitude for what Christian Science has done and is doing for me. I heard of it first in 1908, when in great mental anguish, at a time when long and earnest prayer seemed unavailing and there was no possible relief anywhere. The friend who at my request told me of Christian Science, answered all my questions patiently and to my entire satisfaction. In a few minutes I found what I had longed for all my life, namely, a practical religion, with a God who was near at hand at all times, whom I could understand and learn to know, and not merely believe in.
Never shall I forget the joy of that hour and of the months that followed. My friends declared I looked ten years younger, and I felt like "a new creature;" the "old things" had indeed passed away. My whole outlook on life entirely changed, for from the first I never had a doubt that Christian Science was indeed the truth by Christ Jesus, the Christ-method of healing I had so often longed for but could not comprehend. In the nine years since then this sense of joy has never left me. Though the way has often seemed rugged and uphill, my experiences have been but steppingstones to a higher understanding of the divine Principle which saves and heals.
Through the study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I have had numerous beautiful healings, both physical, mental, and moral, so that from being frequently depressed, nervous, and generally delicate, I am now cheerful, strong, and healthy. I have seen diphtheria, measles, severe colds, and many other ailments quickly overcome, the first two with one treatment, through knowing that nothing is impossible to God; but far beyond this is the better understanding of God as our FatherMother, ever present Love. I am daily proving that good alone governs, is the only power, the only activity.
