Oak Leaves

In a communication signed "Neutral," a contributor attributes to "a Christian Scientist" at a needle club the statement that she could "think a headache or severe illness on any one she cared to." Permit me to say that Christian Science does not enable one to do anything of the sort and does not sanction anything of the sort. On the contrary, it is a religion of love, in which evil motive can have no place. The operation of one human mind upon another is wholly foreign to the modus of Christian Science, which teaches that such action is hypnotism or animal magnetism and is false and powerless. To quote from page 103 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy: "It is the false belief that mind is in matter, and is both evil and good ... This belief has not one quality of Truth.... In Christian Science, man can do no harm, for scientific thoughts are true thoughts, passing from God to man."
