San Bernardino, Cal.—Contracts for the erection of the handsome new edifice of First Church of Christ, Scientist, on the west side of E Street, between Seventh and Eighth Streets, will be signed the first of this week [Aug. 28], and before the end of the week it is expected that actual work will be under way on the site of the structure. The total cost of the edifice, including the furnishings, will be about twenty-five thousand dollars. The main auditorium will provide opera chairs for three hundred and fifty people. A balcony above the foyer will seat one hundred more, while the Sunday school room will seat two hundred and fifty-five. The latter can be thrown into the main auditorium if needed, giving a total normal seating capacity of over seven hundred people. The general dimensions of the building will give a frontage of about 75 feet with a depth of 70 feet.
