I have experienced the healing power of Christ, Truth, as taught by Mrs. Eddy in her book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and for this healing I am very grateful. I did not take up the study of Christian Science for physical healing, although that was very much needed, but I sought the aid of a practitioner and began to attend meetings for peace of mind, and for an understanding of God which might possibly enable me to cope with conditions in which I was compelled to earn my livelihood. I had always been a Sunday school student and had tried to do as nearly right as I knew how, but this did not seem to bring me the happy results which ought to have attended faithful work.
When Christian Science was presented to me, after slight deliberation I began to study it. Then after some lengthy study, accompanied with many doubts as to whether Christian Science really was the truth about God for which I hungered, I found myself, through the aid of a practitioner, better satisfied and healthier. In order to feel fully settled in my own mind, however, I went through a class in March, 1900. Since then I have not taken a drop of medicine. There have been serious attacks of illness, but I have always been helped and sometimes quickly healed by the aid of a practitioner. No ailment that has once been overcome has ever returned, though a difficulty with my eyes has not yet entirely yielded. Christian Science has also helped me to see the way clearly through business difficulties. In my work with children in the schoolroom it has been of very great value.
During the past fourteen years I have given Christian Science a thorough trial in every kind of need, physical, mental, moral, financial, and spiritual, and it has never been found wanting. It has been a present help in all emergencies, and there have been many. There is now no doubt in my mind as to its being the truth about God and man, of which Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." I am very grateful for the knowledge of Christian Science as a practical, every-day religion.
