I would like to state the following case of healing: Four years ago I was taken down with gout in the hip, and the physician who had to be called in accordance with the regulations of our sick-fund, declared that I must stay in bed six weeks and take medicine prescribed by him. My condition was such that the neighbors could hear my cries of pain. We then applied to a Christian Science practitioner, through whose treatment the disease yielded within four days. This caused the physician great surprise. "Why," he said, "this is wonderful! I have never had such a result before." I was able to move my limbs freely and to leave my bed. I would here mention the fact that the medicine was not used, my healing being accomplished through the truth as understood in Christian Science.

For this wonderful healing I am most deeply thankful to God, and grateful to the Discoverer of Christian Science, Mrs. Eddy. This experience has shown me that every error which may present itself causes us to draw nearer to God, and in a sense helps us in our progress, for the way leading "from glory to glory" is not attained by walking on paths of flowers, and in my experience the darkest hours have been preparatory to the finding of priceless gems of truth. Our consciousness must be filled with the desire after righteousness, and Christian Science alone leads us to the wonderful recognition of Truth.
