Fremont (Neb.) Tribune

In a recent issue the Rev. Mr.—is quoted as saying to the Dodge County Medical Society in effect, that the church should drop the business of healing when the doctor appears, and if the church is going to heal, it ought also to feed the multitude, in order to be consistent. Certainly there is no objection to the church feeding the hungry, but better, far better, is it to preach the gospel of good will the critic speaks of, in such a way as to have no hungry to feed, and this is healing synonymous with feeding.

With reference to leaving the field of healing clear to the medical fraternity, you should ask, "Has medicine established a claim to our entire confidence?" It is not necessary to ask the layman, but ask the doctor; he is an honest man and a gentleman, and he will tell you that at the best it is only experimental, with constantly shifting theories. A minister of the gospel and other followers of the Nazarene should also seriously consider what they are going to do with the repeated commands of Jesus to "heal the sick," as found in the gospels, and the examples he gave us as to how this healing should be done.
