I suffered from anemia, stomach disorder, and lung trouble
I suffered from anemia, stomach disorder, and lung trouble. Three doctors treated me at various times, but failed to effect a cure. When I was first told of the lung trouble I was in a most pitiful state of mind. The doctor's medicine was doing me no good, so a western trip was recommended; but the thought of dying among strangers almost drove me frantic. I was weak and miserable, and it was thought among my friends that when the leaves began to fall the end would come. Then in August, 1913, I came to Christian Science, feeling that in this lay my only hope. A friend loaned me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I read this book all my waking hours and also was treated by a practitioner. After the first treatment I was much better, fever, night sweats, and a bowel difficulty disappearing into their native nothingness.
At the end of five treatments I was a well girl, and since then have put on flesh and have not lost a day from work on account of sickness. I am very grateful for the improvement in my health, and my friends are all astonished at the change in my condition. I have laid aside glasses after wearing them for eight years, and which an eye specialist said I would always have to wear. A scar caused by the application of an acid on my face is gradually disappearing, although a doctor said it could not be removed. These benefits and numerous others make me very thankful, but the deeper gratitude is for the spiritual uplift, which does not come in any other way.
Christian Science is a practical religion; there is not a moment in our lives when we cannot apply it. "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494). I am more grateful for Christian Science than words can express. It is my dearest possession.—Anna M. Franck, St. Clair, Mich.
