When Christian Science was brought to my attention by a friend, in August, 1912, I was very much in need of a practical religion. Having been through all the different isms without satisfaction, I was at that time outside of any religious body, but Christian Science came with untold blessing and has given me a religion which can be used every day and in every way. Although I did not come to Christian Science for the physical healing, I have had many demonstrations of the power of Truth. After attending one of the Wednesday evening meetings I was able to do without medicine which I had used for many years, and which I had come to feel I could never dispense with. I have not used any drugs since.

I have also been entirely healed of chronic stomach and bowel troubles, from which I had suffered for over eighteen years. These ailments were overcome in about a month, simply by the reading of Mrs. Eddy's book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." I have been cured through Christian Science of a condition of the kidney, from which I suffered great discomfort and depression at times, the doctor who was attending me having said he was afraid it would require an operation. In March, 1913, I was able to discard an extra heel of half an inch, which I had worn on one of my boots for lameness. I had suffered from this since childhood, and had undergone much experimentation with electricity, etc., without result. While conversing with a medical gentleman some years ago, the subject was brought up, and when asked his opinion, he said it could be nothing other than a diseased joint; but thanks to Christian Science, this is now almost entirely healed, and I can walk without any inconvenience, while I know that as I unfold spiritually my healing will be complete.

Though I am thankful for all the physical benefits, I feel much more so for the spiritual uplift which has come to me, for the clearer understanding, the fuller conception of God as Life, Truth, and Love, and for the restoration of my faith in Christ Jesus, who had latterly become to me something of a myth. Through the reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" I am now able to understand, at least in part, the works and sayings of the Master. I am also thankful that the Bible has been given back to me, and for the light which Christian Science throws upon many things which before were dark. The Bible was for many years a closed book to me, but it is now full of interest. To Mrs. Eddy I am deeply grateful for what she has been able to do for humanity the wide world over, and also for all the Christian Science literature, which is so helpful.
