The Fort Collins (Col.) Courier

An evangelist holding services in your city is reported to have alluded to Christian Science as "a substitute for Christ's religion." In this sermon, "What Is the Matter with the Church?" the evangelist complained that the church was not reaching the people. Christian Science churches have no such complaint. Their churches are filled, many of them to overflowing, with a happy people rejoicing in the saving and healing power of God. Christian Science has proved that when the whole of the teachings of Christ Jesus are given to the people, the people gladly respond. Jesus said, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." If therefore any church is not drawing men unto the spiritual life which Jesus lived, that church had better examine itself to see if it is teaching creed instead of pure and undefiled Christianity.

Christian Scientists strive to follow all the commands of the Master, both to heal the sick and to save the sinner through the grace of God. Judged by the standard set up by Christ Jesus for the guidance of all Christians, their religion is the reinstatement of primitive Christianity, which points to works not words as evidence of its genuineness.
