I wish to express my gratitude to Christian Science for...
I wish to express my gratitude to Christian Science for the many blessings I have enjoyed since I began its study four years ago. I have been healed of stomach trouble and all the ills that go with it. I have also been rescued from the need of a surgical operation.
At the time I began to study this teaching, one of our boys, then seven years old, was very delicate. He had not grown and had gained only six pounds in four years. He could wear a suit made for a three-year-old boy. I was advised by the practitioner, to whom I went for treatment for him, to take him to the Christian Science Sunday school. We lived five and a half miles from Elgin and I told her I could not take the children so far (I had four old enough to go), but she told me to try to take him for a few weeks at least, and I did. In two weeks his whole appearance had changed. He was a happy, healthy, fearless child. How he grew, and how he loved the Sunday school! In two years he had grown enough to make up for the years he had not grown, and now he is as large as any twelve-year-old boy, although he is just past eleven.
Here I may say that the practitioner did not treat him; she said it was my own work and I must do it. Then she told me how to work in Science, and at first I was quite angry and a great deal disappointed, for I had known of Christian Science only a few weeks and felt that I could never help him. I did as she told me to do, however, and with the Sunday school to aid in the good work it was perfectly done. For this and many other blessings I am truly thankful to God, and grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
