[Translated from the German]

I have long felt the desire to express my gratitude for all...

I have long felt the desire to express my gratitude for all the good that Christian Science has brought me, and the healing of a severe illness which I experienced last summer forbids the further delay of such an expression.

About the middle of June, 1913, I was suddenly seized with what seemed a very serious attack of pleurisy, accompanied by all its symptoms, such as high fever and expectoration of blood. My daughter, who had come from a distance and was visiting with me, wired a Christian Science practitioner for help. With three visits and absent treatment from the practitioner I was restored in a comparatively short time. After four weeks had elapsed I was on my way to the Tyrol, where I keenly enjoyed the wonderful beauties of nature. In order to satisfy the members of my family I had a physician make a thorough examination. He pronounced me a perfectly well woman, and congratulated my son, who was accompanying me, upon having such a well mother.

In former years I used to be overcome by a sense of great fear when left alone, a fear that something terrible might occur, but thanks be to God, I am free from this distressing condition now. I live alone, and go out and travel alone with a sense of the omnipresence of God, good, as my protection.
