It is with a heart full of gratitude for the daily blessings of Christian Science that I write this testimony. It has wholly changed my view-point concerning life in all its relations, and has given me a never-failing rule for solving the various problems which arise in human experience.

I came to Christian Science for help in March, 1911, after an accident which seriously interfered with locomotion and caused extreme pain. As a medical nurse of many years' experience, I was familiar with the remedies used to alleviate suffering, and believed that nothing but an opiate could relieve pain of this character. This, perhaps, more than anything else, caused me to turn to Christian Science instead of consulting a surgeon, as I had seen the most pitiful results from the drug habit, not only among the unintelligent and weak-willed, but among highly educated, strong-willed, and formerly self-reliant men and women who had first received the drug at the hands of a physician when nothing else seemed to be of any use.

For three weeks there appeared to be no pronounced change in my condition, although I was sustained so that I spent only the usual sleeping hours in bed, most of the remaining time being occupied in reading Science and Health, except when the practitioner was present. At the end of that time, on awaking one morning, I suddenly became aware that I could walk naturally, and I almost flew out of bed and walked across the room with a sense of freedom which I had not known since the accident occurred.
