In gratitude to God I herewith testify to my wonderful healing. One night I awoke with a painful sensation, which became so intense after a short time that I feared I might lose my reason. The pain started in the head, then spread all over the face. My husband and I held fast to the truth, but the attack seemed so persistent that we wrote to a Christian Science practitioner, asking her to take up treatment, as we were unable to cope with the ailment. After a short time the pain subsided somewhat, but abscesses formed on the gums. I kept entirely apart from other people, but a neighbor who saw me became distressed at my appearance and said that it was a case of poisoning, for the whole face showed a dark color besides being swollen. When my husband heard this, great fear took possession of him, and its effects were seen in this instance, for from the moment that he became alarmed the pain increased in severity, and it was necessary to telephone the practitioner that same night.
It was surprising to see things take a quick turn for the better. The abscesses opened one after the other, though the discharge from mouth and nose was dreadful, but with a few more treatments I was completely restored. There was no physician in attendance, but the symptoms were indicative of a very serious condition. In this instance it became clear to me once more what the word of God will do for us.
Those who have gone through experiences such as the one just related will realize the impossibility of expressing one's gratitude in words, but he can exclaim with the psalmist: "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases." I am profoundly thankful to God, and grateful to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for Christian Science; also for all the love and truth as well as the great blessings which we, including all our household, have received up to the present time.
