When I first called upon a Christian Science practitioner...
When I first called upon a Christian Science practitioner for help, I was suffering from backache, inflamed bladder, and extreme weakness, while the fear of becoming a victim of so-called Bright's disease was great, as a doctor had informed me of this tendency, and my mother soon after this passed on from it. Kindly and tactfully the Scientist taught me to rest my faith upon the Supreme Being, and relief came quickly. Our little girl was to be operated upon for an abnormal growth, but this also was beautifully dispelled through the understanding of divine Truth. Later the child returned from school one day with a high temperature, and after having passed a bad night, she was able to attend school next morning, while other children with the same symptoms had to remain at home for weeks.
Two attacks of poisoning were overcome also ; then a baby was born to us under Christian Science treatment, and the nothingness of the many material laws attending such a case was proved. There was much fear prior to this birth, as instruments had to be resorted to on two previous occasions. A few days before confinement I sustained a fall, which for a brief moment seemed to shock my whole system ; but when the birth took place, the attending physician pronounced it the most harmonious he had ever witnessed, and the whole experience surprised him and all my friends. The baby was strong and good-natured, while the other two had reflected my irritability. The kind practitioner had to exercise much patience in showing me that to love more is to gain health of body and peace of mind, while to cease loving is to be in bondage.
