Over four years ago I suffered a breakdown in health...
Over four years ago I suffered a breakdown in health, losing in flesh and strength. I became alarmed about my condition, and consulted the family physician in the suburban town in which I then lived. At the time of this crisis in my health there came also a crisis in my business, which eventuated in my losing my position as manager of one of its branches. This loss aggravated my physical condition and left me utterly wretched and miserable. I continued treatment with the local doctor for about a year, and finding myself no better at the end of this period, I determined to try a New York city physician who had been highly recommended to me. The New York doctor's diagnosis was that I had heart disease, and he told me that he might be able to cure me in two or three years, but gave me no positive assurance that such would be the case.
I took treatment from this doctor about a year, when Christian Science was brought to my attention and I attended my first Wednesday evening meeting. I listened intently to the testimonies given and became interested. I continued to attend the meetings, although still taking medicine, but finally made up my mind to try Christian Science and was taken to a practitioner, through whose clear spiritual thought I was healed by the power of Truth. Along with this physical healing I received a great spiritual uplift and moral regeneration. Since that time I have had class instruction, and through the understanding thus gained I have been able to find relief from severe rheumatic trouble, as well as from colds and minor ailments. I am very grateful for these, to me, wonderful healings, and I send this testimony hoping that it will bring a message to some sick and wretched mortal not to despair, but to come unto the Father as a little child, and receive health and happiness through this great truth.
I am thankful to God, and grateful to that inspired woman, Mrs. Eddy. It was my wife who first led me to the light.
