There
are two seemingly conflicting commands in the New Testament which it is important for us to understand in order that we may enjoy the health and peace which follow adherence to their strict behests.
Christian Science
is today appealing to an increasing number of men and women, not alone because of its ability to heal physical disorders, but because it offers a practical and effective basis on which to live happier and more efficient lives.
Often
have I watched the dull gray mists among the mountains, some heavy and thick, covering the entire range and wholly obscuring it from view, others stretching here and there, the peaks looming through where they are broken, and yet others as merely a light vapor, the strong background being easily seen behind them; but however far the mists may spread, however thick they may appear to be, still we know that behind them the mountains stand unchanged; we do not need to see them to know they are there.
The
history of mankind is the history of the overcoming of material limitation: first, men learned to make fire and thus conquered climate; they then learned to sail and thus to command the sea; then to avail themselves of the energy of gases, or rarefied matter, and thus to shoulder on mechanical power the burden of work and to dreak down all barriers of terrestrial distance, on the sea and under the sea, on top of the earth and underneath, from the arctics to the tropics and from the Occident to the orient.
To the earnest student of Christian Science nothing is more striking than the way in which statements in the Bible are illumined as the understanding begins to unfold.
I am
grateful for the fact that Christian Science has enabled me to meet successfully every condition, both mental and physical, that so far has confronted me since I have accepted its teachings.
Christian Science is the religion of Jesus Christ, because it is founded upon and exemplifies his word and works; because in so doing, it heals both sin and sickness by one and the same spiritual method; because it gives God all power and presence and glory, and as the Science is understood and applied, it increasingly reveals the paucity, poverty, and impotence of sin and sorrow; because it relies upon neither the wit nor the wisdom of any man.
Our
Master, when questioned as to which was the greatest or most important of the commandments, declared that "all the law and the prophets" were included in the commandment to love God supremely and one's neighbor as himself.

I have long had a desire to tell what Christian Science has done for me and mine, and after reading an article in the Journal, I saw my duty plainer than ever, so I am giving my first testimony.
It is a heart filled with gratitude which leads me to acknowledge through the medium of the Sentinel the great blessings that have come to me through Christian Science.
