I cannot yet call myself a Christian Scientist, but hope...

I cannot yet call myself a Christian Scientist, but hope to be. It has been only a few months since I have given the matter any consideration, but in that time I have experienced a demonstration, which I give with the wish that it may benefit others. From childhood my eyes had given me much trouble, and for several years I was not able to use them sufficiently to go to school. Later, by the aid of glasses, I was enabled to read and acquire an education, but my eyes continued to cause me more or less trouble and I was obliged to wear glasses constantly.

Somewhat recently we called a Christian Science practitioner for our little daughter, and I began to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Later, while at my desk, the thought occurred to me that I should try the treatment for my eyes also. I began by removing the glasses for a few minutes at a time, and while at work repeated what passages I could recall from the Bible and the text-book. This was kept up for over a week without any result, but one morning, when leaving the house to go to work, the thought came to me, Why trust God for fifteen minutes a day and then rely on artificial means the rest of the time? Why not rely entirely on God's promises, or entirely on matter, for there is no use to experiment with Truth. Either God is all powerful or He is not. I felt that I should take Him at His word, and I did! I left my glasses at home, and have never had the slightest need for them since, and can see better than I ever did with them, for I can read the finest of print by artificial light without making my eyes tired. I might add that in my editorial work I am obliged to use my eyes constantly during the day, and frequently more or less at night. I am certainly very grateful, and hope this testimonial will enable some other person to rely wholly upon God in all things.
