SPIRITUAL SUPPLY
If one will but turn to the Bible, he will find from Genesis to Revelation a continuous assurance of infinite supply,—a supply which arises from the boundless basis of Spirit, God,—and that nowhere is mentioned limitation in regard to the needs of God's children. In Christian Science we perceive that the sense of limitation is solely a belief of mortals, that it is self-deceived error, for in effect we try to limit the infinite, which is limitless; and this is the wonderful message of our faith, that there is unlimited good for us, whether it be of supply or health or life. We therefore find our great need to be the overcoming of a sense of insufficiency of any good. By keeping our windows open toward Jerusalem, by listening, as Elijah did, for God's voice, we may fully realize that we are at one with the infinite source of supply, and then we shall lose all sense of limitation; thus demonstrating man's dominion over all and the all-sufficiency of divine Love, for Love supplies all needs, and according to our faith will it be unto us.
We once thought that supply referred mainly to material things, but our Leader has shown us that the true sense of substance is found in the understanding of Life, Truth, Love, and we who daily pray for that Mind to be in us "which was also in Christ Jesus," must know that the Way-shower not only received large supplies of divine power, but that he was willing to give his all; that while he gave us as of first import his spiritual work, he remembered the temporal needs of humanity and fed the multitude. Though we consider our church a spiritual structure, yet its outward symbol must be sustained. He who has told us to ask largely and we shall receive, bids us bring the tithes into His storehouse.
How priceless seem the values of the supplies of understanding and wisdom which we have received through Christian Science! How beyond price are the peace and deliverance from fear! Silver and gold seem as trifles compared to these, and yet we may even here show a willingness to gain the spiritual by giving up the material, for we must do this at every point if we would lay up treasure in heaven. Jesus commended the woman who so appreciated the spiritual blessings which he brought to humanity that she poured the costly ointment on his head.
