I feel it to be my duty to write this testimony, and I would be glad to be able to contribute in some degree toward encouraging those who may still be living in uncertainty as to the truth of Christian Science. The truth Christ Jesus taught is available to every one, and the understanding of it frees us from physical bondage. For eight years I was afflicted with a severe abdominal trouble and had consulted the most eminent physicians in order to be cured, besides having been for three weeks in a clinique where a very high temperature was daily applied to my body; but it all proved a failure, and I was visibly pining away, unable to move about, much less to climb stairs. That this condition was attended by mental suffering goes without saying.

In my great need I heard of Christian Science, and I may say that I immediately experienced a sense of trust, for I knew that medical skill was exhausted in my case; so I applied for treatment, and in about two weeks' time I was again able to move around and attend to my household duties. Now I can walk for several hours without experiencing a sense of fatigue, and the pain in the back has entirely disappeared. Whenever any sense of inharmony manifests itself, I reject its claims through the power of divine Truth, which enables us to annihilate whatever does not belong to man as God's likeness. Through persistent effort and the improvement of my bodily health, my mental condition has also undergone a change. Loving encouragement has awakened me from the bad dream which held me to eight years of miserable existence and made me a pitiful creature. Many are the benefits received by the family of which I might tell, but words seem too poor to express the facts. I can only prove my gratitude through an honest endeavor to study the teachings of Christian Science, and not this alone, but no live in accordance with its spirit.
