Muncie (Ind.) Star
As to those scoffing at the Christian Science idea of one Mind, we believe that a close scrutiny of this alleged negation in Christian Science teaching will indicate the fact that Christian Science in this particular tenet of its teaching makes a most sweeping affirmation. The burden of the teaching of Moses, and later of the teachings of the great Founder of Christianity, was the fundamental idea of "one God." Jesus further affirmed this basic teaching of only one Mind in his repeated insistence that "the Son [indicative of man in the generic sense] can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do."
Very far from denying either the belief of sin or our Lord's effectual atonement, two leading tenets of Christian Science teaching indicate a very sane and wholesome comprehension in this regard. They are these:—
"3. We acknowledge God's forgiveness of sin in the destruction of sin and the spiritual understanding that casts out evil as unreal. But the belief in sin is punished so long as the belief lasts.
