I feel it a duty, as one who is trying to follow the teachings of Christian Science, to give this testimony, to express my appreciation and thankfulness for the great good which my family and myself are getting from this wonderful truth which makes us free. Since taking up the study of Christian Science, some three years ago, we have had many wonderful demonstrations of the healing power of divine Love.

About a year ago we were living in Mitchell, S. Dak. Our little son showed signs of a fever one Sunday evening, the reality of which was denied, both by my wife and myself; but by others who were present at the time, mortal fear was manifested and spoken of. The little fellow was put to bed and he passed a very restless night, for his body seemed to be almost burning up. We treated him to the best of our understanding of Christian Science, but there seemed to be little gain. The following night, when I came home from my business, I found the child apparently much worse. He did not notice anything, not even when I called his name, and when I took him up in my arms he seemed like one that was dead. It was then very evident that we should have help, so I stepped to the telephone and called up one of the practitioners in the city. I stated the condition and asked for help, and in a very short time after the treatment began a change could be seen in the boy. He was put to bed, and before long he seemed to be resting comfortably. He had a good night's sleep, and was much better in the morning. During the day he manifested a desire to be up and around the house, and he was allowed to do as he wished. He steadily improved, and in a very few days was himself again.

At the time of this sickness and cure, the city was full of an eruptive fever, and the symptoms as laid down by mortal mind were all manifested in this case. Although we know from the teachings of our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, that this healing was truly natural, we cannot but feel that it was wonderful. Besides this, I have lost all desire for tobacco since taking up the study of Christian Science, although I had been using it since childhoo, until it seemed as though it was a part of me. About the same time I was able to leave off my glasses, which I had worn steadily for fifteen years. Christian Science has helped me morally, physically, spiritually, and financially, and I am more grateful for this wonderful truth than words can express. To know that everything which comes from God is good, and that every good desire is a prayer, goes a long way toward making this life one long day of rejoicing.
