Words are inadequate to express what I have received...

Words are inadequate to express what I have received through Christian Science. All I can say is that I am more thankful than I can tell. Christian Science was brought to me over two years ago. I began the study of Science and Health, and was healed of what the doctors called incurable diseases. I never was considered strong when a girl, and after marriage I grew weaker. Following the birth of a child I was an invalid for almost twelve years, and at last the doctor said I must have an operation performed if I lived six months, so my husband consented to have it done. I dreaded it, but consented because it seemed the only chance. The doctor began to prepare me for the ordeal, and every day I would go away by myself and pray that God would lead me, and if that was the way to gain my health, to remove everything which was in my way. But I grew weaker daily, till the doctor said that I was too ill to have it done, and gave me up to die. Then one day a friend called and asked me to try Christian Science, and although I did not know what it was, I told her I would try anything, for I had no hope now in a material way. She brought a Christian Scientist to see me, and this lady told me that she could not heal me, but that God could and would. I grew better, and am now in better health than I ever was in my life.

I am thankful not only for the physical benefit, but for the spiritual quickening and the joy of knowing that God is a very present help in all ways, for I have come to find that perfect faith in God helps to overcome everything unlike Him. I do not say that I have yet overcome everything unlike God in myself, but the blessings I have received are numberless, and the joy of being able to help others is the greatest blessing of all. I am deeply thankful to Mrs. Eddy for her love to mankind, and think it very little to do the best we can to follow her teachings. After all, this is nothing to compare with the devotion of her life to the cause of Christian Science, and my daily prayer is to have more of the Mind that was in Christ Jesus, and to know and do the Father's will. If any one wishes to know more about my case, and will write me, I will gladly answer questions.

Mrs. Mary Sikes, Paragould, Ark.
