For many years I had known that Christian Science healed the sick, but I did not accept it for myself until August, 1908, when I had been very ill for five weeks. I had medical treatment all the time, but improved very little. The physician was very kind, but said he could do nothing more, as medicine did not reach the trouble. Early one morning I decided I would never take another does of medicine, but would have Christian Science treatment, and from that hour I left the medicine alone. It was three days before I had an opportunity to see a practitioner, but from the first I felt that I would be healed. My healing came slowly, but now, when I realize how much of Truth I learned during the time, I am grateful for this.

Today I am a living witness to the fact that Christian Science heals paralysis. Before coming into Christian Science, I had lost faith in God and man. I was so tired of what life seemed to be, so tired of what I thought was myself, that I would have been glad to end it all; but I was also very much afraid of the unknown future. Christian Science has taught me that God is Love, it has also given me a different concept of man. It has healed me of sorrow which I thought was a part of my life; it has enabled me to overcome intense hate toward one who I thought had done me a great injury. Christian Science has taught me to love the Bible, although during eleven years of my married life I had never read any part of the Bible except the New Testament, as I did not like the Old Testament. I borrowed a Bible to read the first Lesson-Sermon I ever studied in the Christian Science Quarterly, but I immediately purchased one for myself, and since that time the Bible and Science and Health have been my daily companions.

We have had many cases of healing in our family of four. Our oldest son was healed of catarrhal trouble which he had had since he was a baby. He had been on the operating-table twice, with relief for only a little while. Today he is a well, strong boy. I have seen croup overcome in a few minutes, also a bad wound from a nail healed in a short time. If I were to write on and on, I could not tell all that Christian Science has done for me. It has given me health, happiness, and peace, such as I never knew before; it has removed discord from our home, given me a pleasanter environment and more congenial associates. There is not a thought or condition in my life which has not been improved.
