While staying with one of my sisters, about twelve years ago, I was taken with a severe pain in my head. It was almost unbearable, and I lay for about three months with what was called spinal meningitis. My entire right side was paralyzed; I was unable to speak and was as one dead for a number of days. The doctors did all they could and then gave me up, saying that I could live only a short time; but the everlasting arms of Love were ready to lift me up, as they always are if we only trust. My two sisters were Christian Scientists prior to this experience, but I had always been well and thought I had no need of Christian Science, in fact had given it no thought at all; but we all must awake sometime. My sister sent for a practitioner, who treated me lovingly and faithfully, and in less than a week I was sitting up and the power of speech gradually came back.

I cannot find words to express my gratitude to God, and also my thankfulness to Mrs. Eddy for revealing this blessed truth. I have been married since my healing, and now have two very dear children, who with myself have reaped many blessings from Christian Science.
