I have long felt that I should give my testimony to the healing power of Truth, for freely I have received. If my experience should be the means of pointing the way for some one else, weary and without hope, as Christian Science found me, my cup of gratitude will be full.
I had for many years been a worker in other churches, but I finally concluded that there was little help or comfort in them for me. I had lost my health, and the God "who healeth all thy diseases" had not been revealed to me. I "suffered many things of many physicians," took large quantities of medicine, tried dieting for a number of months, then change of climate, spent five months in California, and finally went back to the doctors. Two of the best physicians in the town where I lived, recommended an operation as necessary to remove internal growths. I submitted to it, and though it was pronounced successful, I got no relief. The old troubles seemed to return in aggravated form, but the doctors said I could never stand another operation.
Truly "man's extremity is God's opportunity." My attention was called to Christian Science, and that wonderful book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," was placed in my hands. It was indeed as "the shadow of a great rock in a weary land." I devoured its contents and for three months had a practitioner's faithful help, and the growths were gradually dissolved. That was over four years ago, and there has been no return of this trouble. During that time I was also instantaneously healed of an abscess at the base of the brain, which a physician said would have to be operated upon at once, or I should lose my mind. I immediately telephoned to a practitioner, and in ten minutes all suffering was gone, and no such symptoms have ever returned.
