For a long time I have felt that I should express my gratitude...
For a long time I have felt that I should express my gratitude through the Sentinel for all that Christian Science has done for me since I became interested in it seven years ago. Once more it has proven to me that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494), and I feel that I can no longer remain silent.
Quite recently my year-old baby swallowed an open safetypin. At first a sense of fear overwhelmed me, and I thought of all the material methods used at such a time. Then I recalled a testimony I had read in the Sentinel several weeks before, about a mother who used no material methods for resuscitating her child who appeared to have been drowned in the bath tub, but relied entirely upon God to do the work. I also recalled that many discordant conditions had been overcome for me in the past by the power of Truth, and that Love never fails to respond to our faith in spiritual means. Then I felt calmer, and telephoned for help in Christian Science. Four days later the pin was passed, the baby having been perfectly normal during those days.
A year before, when this baby was born, I was surrounded by those who were not interested in Christian Science. My physician, nurse, and husband decided that it was necessary to have an assisting physician, and he was summoned; but before his arrival, the Christian Science practitioner who was helping me, called up on the telephone to know how the case was progressing, and my husband told her. She replied that there would be no assistance necessary in this case. My hus band was the only one who heard this, and he did not believe it; but the work was done, and that immediately, and to the astonishment of all about me; while I, who experienced the power of Truth, knew that God alone could have helped me.
