Western Woman's Outlook

The practice of Christian Science does not include either so-called mental suggestion or blind belief. The Principle of Christian Science is the everlasting "I am;" the infinite God, or good; the Word, or law, without which, according to John, "was not any thing made that was made." All her life a devout student of the Bible, Mrs. Eddy, through her own healing from a severe accident, discovered the activity of this law in human affairs; and through further study of the Scriptures and experiment she afterward demonstrated, step by step, its truth. As proof followed proof, she formulated the results and her ideas into what afterward became the text-book of Christian Science, namely, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," which together with her other writings, is making the Bible the "chart of life" (Science and Health, p. 24) to multiplied thousands who are experiencing a degree of that present salvation taught by the master Christian nineteen centuries ago. While it is true that the Principle, God, who is Life, Truth, Love, has always been, the discovery in this age of the present saving power of this Principle, and the restoration of primitive Christianity, belong alone to Mrs. Eddy.
