I feel that I should tell others of the great blessings which have come to me through Christian Science. In 1906 it was first brought to my attention, but I was not prepared for it at that time. In 1907, when I was brought to Christian Science, I had worn a truss for four years and had reached the point where it failed to do me any good. I was facing an operation when I was led to a Christian Science practitioner, and when I went for the second treatment I had left the truss at home and I have never worn it since. This wonderful cure led me to accept Christian Science. The benefit to be derived from this truth in the way of healing was still more forcibly impressed upon me some time later. I had an attack of extreme nervousness and again I went to a practitioner. My healing was not so quick this time, and I can now see that this was much better for me, as I very likely should have just drifted along as before. Some time before this a dear friend had given me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," but I paid very little attention to it at that time. I never cared to go to church, and had read very little of the Bible; in fact I did not think there was a true religion.
I had been a constant user of tobacco for twenty years, but soon after I commenced treatment this left me, and I have had no desire for it since. I know that I was perfectly healed through the practice and understanding of Christian Science, and that divine Love does meet all our needs. It seems to be the desire of all Christian Scientists to help one another, and it is my most earnest wish to learn more of this great truth so that I may be able to help others as I have been helped. My mental outlook has been entirely changed morally. I get the Sentinel every week, and the testimonies therein are very helpful to me. I pray that this testimony may help some poor wanderer to reach and understand this great truth, Christian Science. My gratitude to God, also to our dear Leader Mrs. Eddy, is profound. I am likewise grateful for the kindness shown me on my way to Christian Science.—W. A. Bird, San Francisco, Cal.
