During the month of August, 1910, I was taken very ill...
During the month of August, 1910, I was taken very ill with what the doctors called typhoid malaria, and after five weeks of suffering a friend advised me to call in a Christian Science practitioner. I did so, and began to improve right away, soon being able to eat and leave my bed to attend to my household duties, and in two weeks attended Christian Science services.
I had been a great sufferer for eighteen years, having had several operations which cost me much money. One of my main complaints was a severe bladder trouble which kept me in pain both night and day, but I am thankful to say I was healed of it in one treatment. Later I was troubled with neuralgia and toothache, and had to go in town when it was cold and windy. I was afraid it would make matters worse, but my daughter on her way home from work met the practitioner and told her of my fear. She gave me absent treatment, of which I knew nothing at the time, but while walking in the street, all of a sudden I felt a wonderful sense of freedom and happiness. When I got home my daughter told me that she had met the practitioner and had asked her to give me absent treatment. I then understood why I was so suddenly relieved from the suffering, and have had no return of it.
My husband also has been helped through Christian Science, and now has a good position with one who is a Christian Scientist. He is interested in the study of this teaching and goes to church. Many other blessings have been given me, for which I am very thankful to God, also to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
