[Written for the Sentinel.]

TRUTH, LOVE, AND LIFE

O Truth! Thy potent touch dissolves
The densest structure wrong may rear,
Gives man his birthright—freedom, might,
And brings him heaven now and here.

O Love! all-present, at thy voice
The hosts of evil, vanquished, flee;
Where mercy, justice, goodness, dwell,
There error finds no place to be.

O Life! with Truth and Love to bless
And lead the way from sense to Soul,
Thou off'rest gifts beyond compare,
With bliss supernal as the goal.
