THE LECTURES

On April 1 and 2 Bicknell Young delivered two lectures on Christian Science under the auspices of First Church of Christ, Scientist. At each of these lectures the church was filled to overflowing and parties were turned away for want of seating capacity. On the first occasion Mr. Young was introduced by Clarence W. Chadwick, and on the following evening by Judge Irvin F. Baxter, formerly judge of the district court at Omaha. Mr. Chadwick in his introduction said:—

Thousands of people have read and reread a well-known and interesting little book entitled "The Greatest Thing in the World," which the author summarizes as love. But in so doing, the question arises, Why have these people not experienced healing? Because, in the author's scholarly exposition of this all-important theme, there is one thing lacking,—the spiritual understanding and demonstration of the power of divine Love to heal. The revered Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mrs. Eddy, has written a text-book, entitled "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," a prayerful reading of which has healed thousands. And why? Because in this book, based upon the omnipotence and omnipresence of divine Love, is revealed the missing link of Christian demonstration, the healing Christ-idea, which shows humanity how to work out their own salvation, how to find the kingdom of heaven on earth.

All who have become intimately acquainted with Mrs. Eddy's truly wonderful book are finding out that Love lived and demonstrated is "the greatest thing in the world." Personally, I can testify that for over twenty years I have proven her teachings an ever-available source of health, strength, and happiness.
