Heretofore I have given my testimony of healing through Christian Science verbally in our local church and such other churches as I have visited throughout the country, during my several trips from home in recent years, but it has occurred to me that others might be benefited or encouraged should there be given an account of my experience in one of our periodicals.

About seven years ago I was in a state physically which gave myself and family much anxiety. At that time I was suffering from a chronic affection in one hip and in my back, and it was with great difficulty that I attended to business, it being necessary for me to walk quite a distance each day to and from the train. I had tried materia medica and other material methods for years without receiving any benefit, and finally discontinued all treatment, on the advice of our family physician. He stated that there was nothing to be accomplished in that way as the disease had entered the bone and medicine could not reach the seat of the trouble. I was also afflicted with a chronic bowel difficulty, had frequent attacks of headache, weak eyes supposed to be caused by too much close book work, and heartburn, the result of excessive smoking.

During one of the attacks of headache I called on a friend and neighbor whom I had known for years and who, I understood, had been healed in Christian Science, and was assured by him that there was healing for me also. I accepted his kind offer to try Christian Science treatment and received immediate benefit, the headache disappearing almost instantaneously. Shortly after this I had a severe attack of throat trouble and was in that condition where I had not eaten food for forty-eight hours. I turned again to Christian Science for help and was healed in one day, perfectly and absolutely. This encouraged me to continue treatment for the other ailments, and I am happy to say that I received much benefit, not only in the overcoming of most of these physical difficulties, but I received a great spiritual uplift. The neuralgia did not, however, yield to the efforts of the practitioner, and was not overcome for more than a year afterward, when the healing came through my own reading of Science and Health. The tobacco habit, to which I had been a slave for over fifteen years, was also overcome at this same time, and I have not used tobacco in any way for about five years and have no desire to. In the past few years we have experienced healings in our immediate family from such conditions as acute lung trouble, measles, jaundice, poisoning, fevers, etc., and invariably the healing was immediate and without the fear which we formerly had in such times of trouble.
