I have a deep sense of love and gratitude to God for the many benefits and blessings and the glorious spiritual healing that have come to my understanding through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, also the Lesson-Sermon. Christian Science was presented to me over seven years ago, when I was so in need of help that the world and all in it seemed dark to me. All through my earlier years I wanted to be a good Christian, but it seemed as if nothing good was for me. Troubles and misfortunes came after each other until I often wondered why God had so forsaken me, why He had taken my dear mother away in my childhood and left me to strive alone with the world. I at last decided that God did not know me, and I turned a deaf ear to everything that had the name of God or religion. Deafness also befell me, and it was through this affliction that a dear Scientist presented Christian Science to me, but I did not accept it at first. At the second talk I had with this friend, however, I knew she had something which I did not have, and something which many other so-called Christian did not have. She told me that God is Love,—Life, Truth, and Love,—unchangeable. I told her that He did not treat everybody alike, as He had never answered any of my prayers. She then asked me if I had prayed without fear or doubt. Soon after this I obtained a copy of Science and Health, with the intention of learning how to pray without fear and doubt; and I am so glad and thankful that divine Love directed me in so doing. My sense of deafness is almost overcome, and our home is much happier, so much more peace and harmony in it through Christian Science.

I was healed of a severe attack of rheumatism in the fall of 1910 in three treatments. Our little boy was also quickly healed of relapse in a case of mumps; indeed it would take many pages for me to tell all the blessings I have received through Christian Science, and I am learning new lessons each day from the study of Mrs. Eddy's writings. Words fail when I try to express my gratitude to God, for all He has done for me. Through the small understanding I have of Christian Science I am each day learning better how to pray without fear or doubt, and to be honest, truthful, kind, loving, merciful, and meek, and to show my love and gratitude to dear Mrs. Eddy, who passed through deep waters to show us the true way to worship God. I write this in the hope that it may help some other wanderer to reach spiritual light, peace, and harmony.
