To express the gratitude I feel for every helpful article...
To express the gratitude I feel for every helpful article in the Sentinel and Journal, I send in my testimony. It was about seven years ago that we received the first benefit from Christian Science, when my husband was healed of a form of malarial fever. For over a year he had attacks once a month, and they left him in a very weakened condition, so that we were a good deal discouraged. He finally tried Christian Science, was healed at the first treatment, and has never had a return of the illness.
From that time on we had implicit faith in the power of divine Truth to meet every condition, and through the faithful work of a practitioner it did so, but we made no effort to help ourselves until it was demonstrated to me that I must work out my own salvation. Two years ago I was taken suddenly ill, from a premature birth. What was called a septic condition followed, and again the faithful work of the practitioner relieved me of the serious symptoms; but afterward, once and sometimes twice a week, I was taken with very severe pains.
But by this time my interest was such that I was reading the Bible and the Christian Science literature almost constantly, and one day some two months later, I read in a copy of the Journal the psalmist's words, "Be still, and know that I am God." I sat still for a moment, and then almost shouted for joy, for I had at last realized what I had been struggling to understand, that "all is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation" (Science and Health, p. 468). I was healed in that moment, and in another week was doing all of my own housework. I have not neglected the study since, and have been rewarded with many beautiful demonstrations. Our boy, six years of age, has never taken medicine in his life.
